Sea Cadets Produces The Goods

Anyway we had planned on doing a session on the river on sat night but this never came off due to working and getting tackle sorted etc etc.Got home sat afternoon from work and had a look at the weather, Giving top conditions i thought it had to be worth a shot and was intending heading down blackers area and just hitting it with big bait’s to try and see what was lurkin around.
Set off at about 6:30 ish after pottering around got into cleveleys at around 7:45, First stop was to have a look at the back of the school……..
didn’t like the look of it there with the wind. Second stop fleetwood ……. didn’t like the look of it here neither to flat, Ended up deciding to go in the middle and sea cadets was the chosen location.
Got there and got dressed for the occasion and made the walk to the beach, had a look at it for a few moments like you do to decide which side of the breaker to fish then drop the gear. There was two more fishing it to my left (
seem’s as though it was some of our friends of the other site
) Looking through reports looks like it was spook and john120, Had a chat with them to see if they had fished it recently then headed to set up and target the intended quary !!!!! CODDLIN or MR BASSINGTON.
Set up and waited for the tide to flood a little then out with first rod which had lug sausage tipped with dirty squid, Baited the second rod up but held back until the sea came up a tad more. This rod had the big stuff on 4/0 – 6/0 pulley pennel with a BIG SQUID attached, Sat and waited and waited and waited and though i best make a bait change.
Bait change made and fresh baits launched out, By this time two more anglers had come down and set up to my right, Turned out to be sea-cadet off WSF ( Hes had some negative responses from the usual crew ) but had a chat about various things like you do and all i can say is theres some DODGY FORUM OWNERS OUT THERE with an attempt at poaching a new member from WSF.
Back to the rods and sat waiting and watching then half way through my ciggy i noticed a movement on the squid rod, watch even closer and bang i was in, Ran like hell across the tide and the heart sinks thinking ive done it ive got the fish i wanted. Only to look across and see one of the lads walking my way and that was it my hopes where quickly wrecked
some how they had managed to cross my line and there imp had clipped onto my line. Unclipped it to set us free bit of banter with the soz about that and ohh dont worry thought it was that big bass
and away back to station to stick on another snood and wallop it out ( BTW if it was spook id like to thank him for giving me heart failure when the bloody thing ran )
Not much longer than this i noticed that sea cadet had something fishy going on, had a quick walk over and a chat to see he had a nice 2.5lb coddling lay on the beach. Now this got the adrenaline going and i was certain i wasn’t gonna blank now i had lads there who knew i was out, Change of tactic and on with a massive lug sausage not squid tip this time and bang out it went. Same as with the second rod woooshhhhh out it went, By the time id set the lead and got to sit back down i had a bang on the first rod but missed it
gutted but all wasn’t to be lost as 5 mins after the second rod bangs and this one is on, Gently Gently does it as the weed was by now a pain but with little tricks you pick up didnt cause to much concern
anyway few second later onto the beach comes this little fella.

Stuck it on the measure and it comes out at around 52 cm probably just over 3lb
a few more clearer shots from when i got home to about an hour ago when i could be arrised sticking it on the measure again for all to see this is no blag

Unfortunatly that was the better fish of the night as another one came in just after that and a greedy little 15cm coddlin took a triple black bait on a size 6/0 hook.
But the thing to this story is yet again i escape the blank ant what is now know by many as BLANKPOOL and its safe to say its well over 12 month since i last blanked on these stompin grounds.
Be good to get out again soon with sea cadet and go get the grandad of the one that will be in my belly tnite
Ohhh that coddin mojo is back again
